The type of staircase used on most building sites is a Haki system that has adjustable feet and various lengths and heights from 1.5m to 2m to make sure the staircase is erected to the correct levels for accessing floor and scaffold levels. This system includes handrails for edge protection and if needed toeboards.

The type of staircase used for pedestrian walkways for scenarios like a substitute fire exit is a Layher type staircase and this is an aluminum staircase system with extra width treads to comply with the rules and regulations set out by the highways agency for public access. These types of tower staircases can be built to any height and anything above 10m will need to be tied into the building using a hilti type fixing or physical ties using scaffolding tube and fittings.

UK Scaffolders are fully trained and approved Haki and Layher staircase installers and have worked closely with the highways agency providing pedestrian and public staircases for projects such as temporary bridges across the A27 when the new walkway and bridge was constructed. We have also provided temporary staircases for main contractors working in partnership with West Sussex County Council renewing existing concrete staircases to school buildings around the area with us providing the temporary access.

If required these types of access solutions can be supplied and erected for indoor works whether you need access to the first and second floor on a construction site or temporary access whilst your existing staircase is being renewed or renovated.

There are many different scenarios this system can be of use with and for a free site visit with competent and professional advice on the best resolution please contact us.
